Board member profile

Conor Healy

Experienced auditor, including significant experience in both financial statement audit and sustainability assurance, with a focus on driving continuous improvement in the performance of assurance to consistently enhance its impact on and value for clients and stakeholders.

Previously a public-sector audit specialist in the UK, working with local authorities, the NHS and other government bodies, including both their financial statements and TCFD-compliant reporting. Exposure in Australia ranges from working with start-ups, to established and multinational listed and private businesses and not-for-profits. Experience on sustainability assurance in Australia ranges from not-for-profits to professional services firms and listed entities, covering reporting in accordance with the GHG Protocol, GRI and other voluntary frameworks. Regardless of location, size, type or industry, focus is on working with clients and colleagues to always do the right thing and achieve the best outcomes possible.

Involvement with quality assurance and technical teams in both the UK and Australia enables me to understand and effectively respond to even the most challenging and technical problems. Since early 2024, responsibilities have included working with Grant Thornton International on the development of the sustainability assurance methodology and associated training, and delivering training to assurance practitioners in Australia.

Experience beyond traditional financial audit includes:

– Performing detailed assessments of and preparing reports on sustainability and planning, financial management, governance and leadership, transparency, and value.

– Utilising transferable skills to assist non-audit clients in various areas: income-maximisation at a local authority while assessing potential social impacts, financial due diligence on a college merger, and establishing COVID-19 testing centres and the systems required to run them.

– Working with organisations to embrace the opportunities of sustainability reporting, assisting them to establish the correct structures and processes to ensure they can effectively leverage all the advantages it can offer.

Passionate about audit quality, innovation, collaboration, training the next generation, compassionate leadership and making a positive impact on clients and wider stakeholders.
