The opening event in this new series will feature insights from a number of guests including Sinead Keane, winner of the Young Professional category at the 2017 Irish Australian Business Awards.

The Health Sector has threads running through Irish history, culture, innovation and beyond. While primary care continues to be an important element of activity for Irish Australians, many are also finding their way through the business of healthcare, managing units, departments, hospitals and the organisations who serve them. Irish Australian innovation and collaboration in e-health, medtech, bio-pharma and devices is leading the way in many facets of the sector and is worth around $2bn to the trading relationship between Ireland and Australia.

Irish Australians play a key role in the success of the sector and the Chamber is delighted to give those working in or around the health industry a forum to network, share ideas, support each other and unlock opportunities in the wider Chamber community. We look forward to seeing you at this special event where there will also be plenty of time for some relaxed networking with some food and a drink on arrival included.

We welcome guest speaker Bernadette Keenan to this opening event, who is a Registered Nurse and holds an Orthopaedic Nursing Certificate, Sterilizing Technology Certificate, and a Bachelor of Health Administration (UNSW).  Additionally, Bernadette is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and completed the Executive Program “Design Thinking for Social Innovation” facilitated by lecturers from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school), Stanford University.

Bernadette has an extensive background in clinical, operational management, strategic planning and business development and she established her own health consultancy in 2012 after a long and successful career primarily at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney.

Bernadette has developed a diverse set of skills and capabilities to assist her to promote equitable, accessible and improved health care services in the service and health facility planning spaces and she works across the acute, sub-acute, community and aged care sectors. She is a capable and effective project manager and has significant experience in service planning, change management in the health care setting, operational service reviews and developing systems and processes that are applicable in the diverse health care environments. Bernadette was appointed as a non-executive director on the Karitane Board in 2016.
