Irish Chamber

History

The IACC was formed in the 1980’s by a group of Irish business people based in Australia with the aim of providing structure and support for their peers at a local, national and international level.

Founding President, Gerry Higgins, continues to be involved with the chamber as an attendee at flagship events and the family business remains a committed and valued sponsor.

Over the years the Chamber has hosted Australian Prime Ministers, State Premiers and Federal and State Ministers, Presidents of Ireland, an Taoiseach (the Irish Prime Minister), Irish Government Ministers and Trade Missions to Ireland and Trade Missions from the island of Ireland as well as Ireland’s Ambassadors to Australia. The Chamber is also strongly linked to European Union representation in Australia.

The Chamber’s Board of Directors and a CEO oversee day-to-day operations and strategic planning.
